Project Methods
Students applying for the DVM program at K-State College of Veterinary Medicine are selectedfor interview by reviewing the academic profile and multiple areas of experience. Theexperience categories include veterinary medicine, animal, extracurricular activities, researchexperience, volunteer/community service and employment history. By taking experiences intoaccount, a more holistic approach is taken to application evaluation. Academics is not the onlyfactor considered when reviewing applications as we realize students involved in multipleactivities or employment have desired skills of time management and responsibility. Onceinterview invitation occurs, the remainder of the application is reviewed and an interview date isset. Following interview, all pieces of an application are put together to determine offer. Oncean offer occurs in early February each year, we will review applicants for scholarship offers forthe RUSH DVM program. Being able to offer scholarships to students of diverse backgroundswill result in elevated enrollment for the student demographics outlined in the proposal. Ifstudents know a portion of their scholarship commitment from this program with the additionalSpecial Experiential Learning (SEL) funding ahead of accepting their offer, they are more likelyto accept.
