Non Technical Summary
Our first objective is to update and improve our haul in cattle facility. Our holding pens, tub, alley and hydraulic chute all desperately need to be replaced. We perform a significant number of displaced abomasum surgeries, breeding soundness exams on bulls, brucellosis vaccinations, and general health exams at our clinic. The facility is 40 years old and needs to be updated to continue to serve our beef and dairy producers. The cost of the remodel of the facility will be covered by Bear River Animal Hospital, but we ask for your support on the chute, alleyway. We currently employee a 2022 VMLRP awardee and seek to equip him with a portable ultrasound and a truck with mobile veterinary box. This will allow one more veterinarian to be properly equipped to perform dairy herd health visits and beef pregnancy diagnosis in the fall. In an area as large as ours, one more vet truck will greatly enhance our ability to meet the shortage objective. Finally, we will continue and commit to expand our cooperation with local FFA chapters and youth church groups to provide educational opportunities and demonstrations at our clinic.

Goals / Objectives
Our goal is simple. It is to provide enough qualified veterinary support to Box Elder County, so that it is no longer viewed as a shortage area. We will have three objectives to achieve this. First, we will need to update our large animal haul-in equipment to handle the current demand. Our current setup is a bottleneck. We will overcome the bottleneck through this grant. This will take place in the first budget year and will include a new chute, alley way and tub. Second, we will provide better mobile services by equipping an additional veterinarian with a truck, mobile vet box and portable ultrasound. This equipment will also be purchased in the first budget year. Third, we will continue to educate and introduce the youth to large animal production medicine by hosting youth groups in our updated facility. This third objective has always been important to the clinic and we will work at expanding it over all three budget periods.
Project Methods
Our veterinary data management system at the clinic is Cornerstone. We will easily be able to track the increase in production that we have experienced with our implemented plan and grant. We can track it down to the specific number of head processed and increase in number of farm calls made. We plan to track farm calls made, haul-in visits, BSEs, CVIs, pregnancy exams, and bang vaccinations on a yearly basis and compare it to the previous years. Our goal will be to host six educational experiences a school year. I will track the number of classes held and the number of students attending.
