Non Technical Summary
A recent report (June 2021) of the Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antimicrobial Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB) entitled "Advancing interprofessional education and practice to combat antimicrobial resistance" highlights current gaps and barriers to a holistic One Health approach to interdisciplinary AMR pedagogy in US professional health education, including veterinary and crop/environmental health education. Two key outcomes of the report highlighted the critical need for practitioners of interprofessional education and One Health sectors to (a) meet together to learn from each other and develop shared definitions and concepts of collaborative education and practice, and (b) work to develop shared core curriculums that emphasize AMR with antimicrobial stewardship and span the One Health domains. This conference proposal details a strategic approach to initiate efforts to address these gaps and provides a strong foundation on which to continue efforts to more fully integrate the key outcomes and AMR generally into the pedagogy of One Health sciences. The rationale for this proposal is that antimicrobial stewardship and antimicrobial resistance in the food system (of both animal and plant origin) can be improved by fostering learning and sharing of approaches, successes and outcomes in AMR work across the One Health domains. The target audience for this program will be stakeholders involved in antimicrobial (antibacterial and antifungal) prescribing or decision making from all One Health sectors.

Goals / Objectives
The goal of this hybrid conference is to allow participants to compare and contrast their perspectives of antibiotic stewardship and prescribing/decision-making from their "One Health sector" to others, in order to learn from and evaluate new approaches used in other sectors. The target audience for this program will be stakeholders involved in antimicrobial (antibacterial and antifungal) prescribing or decision making from all One Health sectors. Conference participants will be divided up into cohort teams composed of faculty and student representatives of each of the One Health domains.
Project Methods
The initial in- person event is designed to be time-constrained to a couple of days (working into busy schedules), coincide with a broader conference where participants can network with the larger antimicrobial resistance community, and allows for better team-building and "getting to know one another" exercises that will provide a strong foundation for the later teamwork. In the second phase of this conference, we will be transitioning to the virtual environment in order to allow continued teamwork when participants are not geographically co-located. As expressed in the PACCARB excerpt above, there is a scalability issue of broad access to interprofessional education given the disparities in the number of different health education programs across specialties. By developing and demonstrating the ability to deliver effective experiential learning in a virtual environment to teams that have mt in-person and built rapport, we can effectively overcome the challenges of geographic dispersion. For the virtual component of the conference, we will leverage the power and utility of the NIAMRRE Exchange online community powered by Higher Logic. A conference-specific microsite will be established that allows for case presentations, online asynchronous discussion and group work. These asynchronous discussions will allow more flexibility in timing for the variety of differences in class schedules while allowing for a more limited number of synchronous online case presentations and discussions. This type of format was modeled during the IPEC Faculty Institute and was found to be quite effective for team work and progress. Following the successful conclusion of both the in-person and the virtual events, all participants will be provided a certificate of completion. @font-face{panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4;mso-font-charset:0;mso-generic-mso-font-pitch:variable;mso-font-signature:-536870145 1107305727 0 0 415 0;}@font-face{panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4;mso-font-charset:0;mso-generic-mso-font-pitch:variable;mso-font-signature:-536859905 -1073732485 9 0 511 0;}@font-face{panose-1:2 2 6 3 5 4 5 2 3 4;mso-font-alt:"Times New Roman";mso-font-charset:0;mso-generic-mso-font-pitch:auto;mso-font-signature:0 0 0 0 0 0;}p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal{mso-style-unhide:no;mso-style-qformat:yes;mso-style-parent:"";margin:0in;mso-pagination:widow-orphan;;mso-ascii-mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-bidi-mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}p{mso-style-noshow:yes;mso-style-priority:99;mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-right:0in;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;margin-left:0in;mso-pagination:widow-orphan;;mso-fareast-}.MsoChpDefault{mso-style-type:export-only;mso-default-props:yes;mso-ascii-mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-bidi-mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}div.WordSection1{page:WordSection1;}

Target Audience:The target audience for the project included veterinary and human health practitioners from private practice or academic settings, veterinary and human health professional students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty members engaged in AMR research, government stakeholders, faculty members and researchers involved in crop production, and faculty members and researchers engaged in environmental research. Changes/Problems: Nothing Reported What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided?Professional Development The NIAMRRE 2022 Annual Conference and pilot One Health IPE program served as a professional development for the approximately 90 conference participants from across the US and the One Health IPE cohort members. Table 1 lists the general sessions held at the in-person annual conference as well as the synchronous and asynchronous activities held for the One Health IPE members after the conclusion of the conference. Impact Statement A recent report (June 2021) of the Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antimicrobial Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB) entitled "Advancing interprofessional education and practice to combat antimicrobial resistance" highlights current gaps and barriers to a holistic One Health approach to interdisciplinary AMR pedagogy in US professional health education, including veterinary and crop/environmental health education. To improve antimicrobial stewardship and antimicrobial resistance in the food system (of both animal and plant origin), a pilot One Health IPE program was developed to foster learning and sharing of approaches, successes and outcomes in AMR work across the One Health domains. Participants in the One Health IPE pilot program have provided feedback that this program has been valuable in developing skills in the IPE core competencies, improved their understanding of how antimicrobial agents are used across the One Health domains, and expanded their professional networks to include others outside of their area of One Health expertise. Nearly all cohort members have indicated that they would recommend participation in the program to a friend or colleague. A second cohort was launched in January 2023 How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest?How Results were Disseminated Results of this project were disseminated through a virtual symposium held on October 19, 2022. During the symposium, the teams from the One Health IPE pilot program prepared and presented One Health AMR case disclosures. Speakers from the University of Washington's Center for One Health Research presented examples of practical applications in One Health. Attendees for the symposium included NIAMRRE members and non-members from across the US as well as overseas. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? Nothing Reported

What was accomplished under these goals? Accomplishments Goal for the conference: The goal of this hybrid conference was to allow participants to compare and contrast their perspectives of antibiotic stewardship and prescribing/decision-making from their "One Health sector" to others, in order to learn from and evaluate new approaches used in other sectors. The target audience for this program will be stakeholders involved in antimicrobial (antibacterial and antifungal) prescribing or decision making from all One Health sectors. To achieve this goal, the following was accomplished: Pilot One Health Interprofessional Education Cohort and NIAMRRE Annual Conference Recruitment of a cohort of participants for in-person activities at the NIAMRRE annual conference, held May 15-18 in Omaha, NE, as well as follow up online synchronous and asynchronous activities. A cohort of 33 members from across the US that represented various career stages (graduate and professional students in human, animal and crop health, postdoctoral fellows, as well as practitioners from across the One Health domains) and various NIAMRRE member organizations, as well as non-member organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholder groups. Participants were divided into six teams such that there was representation from all One Health sectors as well as different career stages and geographies, and the teams then participated in a conference workshop focused on team-building and "getting to know you" activities. Following the in-person workshop and NIAMRRE annual conference (which included sessions presented by experts in interprofessional education (IPE; see Table 1), the One Health IPE teams engaged in virtual synchronous and asynchronous activities related to One Health AMR case disclosures (see Table 1 below).
