Goals / Objectives
Extend from the infrastructure of the Legume Information System (LIS) and SoyBase, to make a set of bioinformatic tools similar to those in SoyBase, for peanut researchers. Store and provide access to peanut genetic and genomic data generated by the Peanut Genome Consortium. Incorporate trait and QTL data, with genomic and map information, to facilitate progress in breeding and molecular biology in peanut, soybean, and other legume crops.
Project Methods
Store all significant data sets for the peanut genome sequencing project and associated genomic efforts. This will be done in a new dedicated website, with detailed genetic data going into a modified instance of the SoyBase database. The web database and tools will provide specialized resources for peanut researchers and breeders. Provide a genome sequence, genetic maps, trait and QTL data, haplotype information, metabolic pathways. Relate the peanut genetic, genomic, and metabolic data with corresponding data in soybean. Provide training and outreach related to the resources and tools to key users in the peanut research community. This is at the request of the Peanut Genome Consortium Executive Committee, with coordination through ONP.
