Project Methods
The Master Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) Volunteer Program has been managed and operated by MSU Extension - Housing & Environmental Health Program since the program was launched, in September 2013, at the annual National Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences Conference. Prior to the program unveiling, MSU Extension worked closely with USDA/NIFA in the development of the curriculum (13 lessons) as well as the website and adjoining online program tracking system, and all associated materials and resources.A significant number of FCS State Program Leaders have requested the training and resource toolkit as well as accessed the online (www.masterfcsvolunteerprogram.info) curriculum and online program tracking system. The efforts that will be used to cause a change in knowledge, actions or conditions of a target audience will happen at the state and county/local level via Extension Educators. These Extension Educators will be evaluating their education/training sessions with potential Master Volunteers and reporting their findings/results in the online program tracking system located at: www.masterfcsvolunteerprogram.info/tracking. Periodically, this online tracking will be accessed by MSU Extension and reports will generated and provided to USDA/NIFA.The outputs that will be evaluated will consist of:The Master FCS Volunteer Program training evaluation surveys that have been created for each of the 13 lessons within the training curriculum; The impact on the Master Volunteer training participants; and,The impact on the community members who attended a workshop/training provided by the Master Volunteer. The data provided by FCS State Program Leaders and/or Extension Educator (in the online program tracking system) will be utilized to evaluate the program.
