Goals / Objectives
The objectives of this NFCA are to reduce stormwater pollutants from entering the local waters (i.e., rivers, streams, estuaries) of the District of Columbia, as required under the current applicable U.S. Environmental Protection Agency National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (⿿NPDES⿝) Permit for the District⿿s municipal separate storm sewer system, (hereinafter ⿿MS4 Permit⿝). A strategy for implementing these objectives includes DDOE⿿s securing the District Department of General Services (⿿DGS⿝) to undertake procurement.
Project Methods
USDA has requested the services of DDOE to maintain a Terre Kleen⿢ hydrodynamic separator, a stormwater management best management practice (⿿BMP⿝) located on the grounds of the U.S. National Arboretum (⿿USNA⿝) that captures floatable trash, hydrocarbons, oil and grease, and sediment from stormwater runoff entering Hickey Run (⿿the Project⿝) and to partner on other BMPs that are jointly agreed upon that will improve water quality.
